THE OBJECTIVE
Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE) secured a competitive partnership with the Commonwealth of Virginia to become the preferred supplier for their 80-hectare Costal Virginia Offshore Wind project. To announce this historic stride forward in creating a renewable energy grid, in partnership with the Governor Ralph Northam and the Port of Virginia, SGRE tasked us with documenting their first two completed test turbines, towering over 450 feet, 26 miles from the coast of Virginia Beach.
THE RESULT
Despite some sea sickness from 6-foot waves, we captured breathtaking footage from the CVOW site, as well as supporting sites onshore, to create a PSA to inform the public on the groundbreaking and job creation.
The video was debuted at the press conference and within a week became the Port of Virgnia’s most viewed and engaged post ever on Linkedin.
We at Siemens Gamesa have shown the offshore wind industry the way for over 30 years. Establishing the industry’s first dedicated offshore wind turbine blade facility in the United States proves again that we are leading the offshore revolution. The U.S. offshore market is a critical part of our overall global strategy, with our presence in Virginia playing a crucial and central role.
